My memories of Spencer are of VBS 2006 at CUMC. Anna and I were guides to Spencer and friends. Fiesta! Spencer had the world by the tail! I am so heartbroken. Words can not express the anguish and grief I feel for your family. I can not stop thinking about you all, but most of all, sweet Spencer. I am so proud that Rachel had the opportunity to go through her pre-school years with Spencer. She always had such funny stories about him. I pulled out some pictures and found so many with Rachel and Spencer together, with his bright shinning eyes. What an angel! We feel so fortunate to have known him.

Please know that you are constantly in our thoughts and our prayers. Hang in there and stay strong.

Ryan, Anna, and Pat:

As I pray for Spencer I keep thinking of 1 Corinthians 13. The line about when I was child and especially the last line – “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

These three will always remain. Your love for Spencer, your love for each other will remain every day with your family. I know that he will touch your life everyday. He will be the strength that Ryan needs to turn a fly ball into a home run, the voice whispering in Ryan’s ear when he is about to forget a line in a school play, he will be the courage you need to ask the hard questions of life. He will be there every day making your family stronger. He is a beautiful angel that will surely know the score in every Red Sox game.

Take faith to know that all though we cannot explain or understand this tragedy. We know Spencer is now your Angel and he will provide strength to you and everyone you touch. When school begins this year, I will miss Spencer’s smiling face, awesome attitude, enthusiasm, latest Aggie attire and most of all-- his sweet, kind, and gentle spirit towards others. I will also miss his "really high" high five's as he wanted to always jump up "high" to reach my hand on his way out of the gym.
It is so sad to think that our Boon Elementary family will be missing one of our precious 1st graders. I am sure this group of children will be somehow changed by the loss of their friend and classmate and I pray for strength and wisdom for all the parents as they attempt to explain the unexplainable to their 6 year olds.
I will think of Spencer with each game we play this year and make sure I give extra hugs to all the little ones-- because we just truly never know God’s plan.
May God hold your family gently in the palm of His hand and help you to find the kind peace that only He can give.

Anna, Patrick and Ryan, My heart has been broken for you from the moment I got the call from Kay Schroeder on Saturday night to add your precious Spencer to the prayer list on Sunday morning at FUMC Lockhart. Many were praying that your son would be healed. He was healed but not the way we wanted him healed! I just remember him from Christmas Eve services or holidays, bounding down the aisle for Communion and thinking what a perfect family you all have created! His pictures and testimonies tell quite a story that is an example to all of us - "Live life to the fullest every day and love deeply because we do not know how long we have on this earth!"
