Many thanks go to our family and friends whose kind words, well wishes, and prayers continue with us every day but especially in August. Here’s a Spencer update from # 1 fans and "PR" agents (Mom and Dad)!
In April, we celebrated the 2nd Annual Spencer Squire All*Star Golf Tournament and again it was a huge success with 200 players. It was a fun filled day with family and friends, reflecting Spencer’s love of just that! Donations were made to the Texas A&M Baseball Facilities Fund, Texas A&M National Championship Golf, Donate Life Parade Float, and future playground improvements for Boon Elementary. Mark your calendars now for the 3rd Annual Tournament on Sunday, April 25, 2010. Hope to see you there!
And to kick off football season, we have been honored with Rusty Burson of the 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M with a remembrance of Spencer in his new book Texas A&M Football Vault as he has dedicated this to Spencer. Coming to stores near you, hope you can pick up a copy, it is a fun interactive, sports memorabilia book. Thank you Rusty!!
In December our family will be headed to Pasadena, California, to partake in the festivities of the Rose Bowl Parade. Spencer was one of 38 organ donors to be selected and honored with his picture on the Organ Donation float at the Rose Bowl. There will be a floragraph (a picture of Spencer made from roses) that will displayed on the float. Make sure to look for the Donate Life Float on the New Years Day Parade!
Our hearts continue to be filled with many, many "Spencer winks" from Above. One recent example is our trip to Disney World in June where we were celebrating Ryan’s 5th Birthday just as we had done with Spencer. We check in and a nice older gentleman helped us with our bags. As he was turning to leave our room, I look up and his nametag said "Spencer". A simple reminder that he is always with us.
As we wrap up the end of summer, Ryan enjoyed returning to England and is all excited about starting kindergarten at Boon Elementary in Allen. And Baby Jack Oliver continues to bring many smiles with his "Spencer" blue eyes.
We love and appreciate all of you. Happy Fall.
Anna, Patrick, Ryan, and Jack Oliver
